"psalm" is a vocal collage of lamentation about the evil of mankind, the inability to confront it, the bad conscience about it and the longing for allies. The core thesis "people equal shit" is circled and spun further by the voice in an echoing undertow, dissected into consonants and vowels and associatively shifted in meaning. The space of reflection is infiltrated by a snappy commentary denouncing inactivity; answered by the exhausted crooning "Let's switch off the news / and trust the government for tonight". It ends half reconciled.

The sound collage was created for a collaboration with performance artist Julia Blawert in her current production "MONTAGSFAHRTEN - nach der Ohnmacht" in May 2023. The audio material began with a vocal improvisation (approx. 25 min.) through an analogue effects unit with a delay tail. This material was edited and supplemented by a song insert (also composed for the above-mentioned performance). The vocals remain very pure and deliberately imperfect - just as the core thesis has no perfect answer. Incidentally, "people = shit" is a song quote from Slipnot. And they also have T-shirts.

„psalm“ ist eine vokale Klagecollage über die Schlechtigkeit der Menschen, die Ohnmacht, sich ihr entgegenzustellen, das schlechte Gewissen darüber und die Sehnsucht nach Verbündeten. Die Kernthese „people equal shit“ wird von der Stimme in einem Echo-Sog klanglich umkreist und weitergesponnen, in Konsonante und Vokale seziert und im Sinn assoziativ verschoben. Der Raum des Nachsinnens wird von einem bissigen Kommentar unterwandert, der die Untätigkeit anprangert; beantwortet vom erschöpften Crooning „Let´s switch off the news / and trust the government for tonight“. Es endet halb versöhnlich.

Die Klangcollage entstand für eine Kooperation mit der Performancekünstlerin Julia Blawert in ihrer aktuellen Produktion „MONTAGSFAHRTEN – nach der Ohnmacht“, Mai 2023. Das Audiomaterial begann mit einer Gesangsimprovisation (ca. 25 min.) durch ein analoges Effektgerät mit einem Delay-Schweif. Dieses Material wurde montiert und durch einen Songeinschub (ebenfalls komponiert für die o.g. Performance) ergänzt. Der Gesang bleibt dabei sehr pur und bewussten Imperfektionen – wie auch die Kernthese keine perfekte Antwort kennt. „people = shit“ ist übrigens ein Songzitat von Slipnot. Und davon gibt es auch T-Shirts.
